What we can do as allies.
The world is out protesting for #blacklivesmatter, and I hope you are too. This is a time for me to use my platform to amplify other voices, so this week I’m directing you (“you” being my fellow white friends, current and future #blacklivesmatter allies!) to other important things to read, watch and do. I’ve mostly focused this list on local #yeg Edmonton resources (if you don’t live in Edmonton, I suggest you do some research to find similar resources for your own city, and then share them where you can).
READ & WATCH:
Edmonton Anti-Black Racism Tool Kit (written by Bashir Mohamed).
Watch this video of Edmonton’s Be the Change Digital Rally from this past Tuesday.
Read through some of the great resources at White Allyship 101: Resources to Get to Work (if you’re feeling overwhelmed, I suggest starting with Peggy McIntosh’s article White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Backpack)
